Türkiye is preparing to host the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP31) in Antalya on 9–20 November 2026. As part of the thematic day programme announced by the COP31 Presidency, priority areas of climate action will be addressed individually throughout the 12 days of negotiations.
The World Leaders Climate Action Summit, which will bring together heads of state and government to build political momentum on climate change, strengthen global cooperation and accelerate the implementation of commitments, will take place on 11–12 November (Days 3 and 4) as the conference's highest-level sessions. The first day of the World Leaders Summit will coincide with the "Zero Waste" theme, while the second day will run concurrently with the "Resilient Cities and Built Environment" theme.
The conference will begin on 9 November with the "Food, Agriculture and Health" session, followed by "Energy and Transport" on 10 November. Following the World Leaders Summit, "Finance and Trade" will be addressed on 13 November, while 14 November will focus on "Children, Youth, Education and Skills". Sunday 15 November will be dedicated to social and cultural programmes. The second week of the conference will begin on 16 November with the "Science, Industry and Technology" session, followed by "Oceans, Seas, Nature and Land Use, Rio Synergy" on 17 November, "Human and Social Development" on 18 November, and "İmece: Strengthening Implementation" on 19 November. The event will conclude on 20 November with the formal closure of negotiations.
Designed to translate climate policies directly into action, the thematic days will provide a platform for ministerial-level dialogues, expert panels, business forums and announcements of new partnerships.
