QNB Musical for Children

We introduced 50 children between the ages of 6-12 from various disadvantageous regions of Istanbul to theatre in cooperation with Perfore Fikir in 2022. These children received acting, singing, dance and music lessons for 6 months. The participants were selected from state schools in both sides, particularly from Sultangazi, Gaziosmanpaşa, Sancaktepe, Ümraniye and Beşiktaş, through application in 2021-2022 education period. At the end of 6 months, our children performed “Mozart’s Fairies” on stage four times. Over 2100 children and their families watched our play.

Tiny Fingers Coding the Future

In the scope of our project “Tiny Fingers Coding the Future” realized in collaboration with Microsoft Turkey and Habitat Association, we ensure that children develop their technology-oriented creativity and coding skills in an entertaining environment. “KODU programming Language” training of 8 hours in length has been provided for children ranging from 8-14 years old in 32 different provinces in a classroom environment since 2015. At the end of this project launched together with our Volunteer Financiers in order to develop algorithmic thinking abilities of our children, we reached 20 thousand children in three years who could be the innovation leaders of the future. We reached children in Adana, Adıyaman, Afyon, Ankara, Antalya, Aydın, Bursa, Denizli, Diyarbakır, Düzce, Edirne, Elazığ, Erzurum, Eskişehir, Gaziantep, Isparta, İstanbul, İzmir, Kars, Kırklareli, Malatya, Manisa, Rize, Sakarya, Samsun, Siirt, Şanlıurfa, Tekirdağ, Tokat, Trabzon, Van and Yozgat provinces and completed our coding training.

 

What is KODU?

KODU is a free game design tool developed by Microsoft to teach children “programming” beginning from the early ages. KODU, which aims for assisting children to develop their programming skills in an entertaining environment, provides them with an opportunity to create their games in a 3-D world. Unlike other programming languages, commands are issued by using visual elements rather than by writing. Children can find a chance to learn KODU through free for all classroom trainings. At the same time, they can learn KODU programming language online through www.acıkakademi.com website.

KODU CUP 2018

Children designed their own games by giving life to different world of planets under the theme of “Life in Space” in 2018

Out of approximately 100 applications, ten teams made it to the finals in the age categories of 8-11 and 12-14, and three teams from each age category went on to the finals.

In the age category of 8-11, the Alpha Knights team with their game “Alpha Knights” ranked first, Harşena team with their game “Journey to my Dreams” came in second, Üç Kafadar with their game “Lost Fruits” took third; in the age category of 12-14, the Fatihin Yıldızları (The Stars of Conqueror) with their game “ I Rescue the World” got first place, Koduzay with their game “Last Chance in Mars” took second place and the Power of Infinity with their game “ Where is Falcon Heavy?” came in third.

KODU CUP 2017

Children designed their own games by coding the natural beauties and richness of our country under the theme of “New Generation Tourism” in 2017.

Out of approximately 100 applications, ten teams made it to the finals in the age categories of 8-11 and 12-14, and three teams from each age category went on to the finals

In the age category of 8-11, the Spirit of Adventure team with their game “Grand Adventure: Mission” ranked first, Harşena team with their game “Escape from the Labyrinth” came in second, Astro Girls with their game “Space Tour” took third; in the age category of 12-14 , the Coding Explorers with their game “Windmill” got first place, the Scorpions with their game “Adventures of Two Friends” took second place and Gezdik Gördük Öğrendik team (Traveled Saw Learnt) with their game “ Let’s Explore Kuşadası” came in third.

KODU CUP 2016

Children designed their own games by coding the love of nature and environmental conscience under the theme of “Environment and Me” in 2016.

Out of approximately 100 applications, ten teams made it to the finals in the age categories of 8-11 and 12-14, and three teams from each age category went on to the finals.

In the age category of 8-11, the Little Initiatives team with their game “UM-UT-ON” ranked first, Nature Protectors team with their game “Age of Petrol” came in second, Yeşil Karadeniz (Green Black Sea) with their game “Hero of Nature” took third; in the age category of 12-14, two teams were granted first prize. Code by Nature team with their game “Just Save It” and Green Team with their game “Follow the Green” ranked first. Objects team with their game “Respect the Environment in Football” took second place and AKA Code Team with their game “Struggle for Life” came in third.

Oncology Playroom

In the scope of “Volunteer Financier Project Competition” organized under the roof of our social responsibility platform “Tiny Hands Big Dreams”, Sakarya University Pediatric Oncology Department Playroom was created in 2016 so that children receiving long-term treatment could move away from hospital environment and have a good time.

After the completion of our playroom, we had a chance to observe the emotional and social development of our children and decided to implement this project in hospitals which needed such a room across Turkey.

We created a playroom for children in Dicle University Pediatric Oncology Department in 2018 and enabled them to engage in different social activities throughout their treatment processes and designed a room where they could have a good time.

In the coming period, we will reach thousands of children in new hospitals who need such a room and continue to share the happiness on the faces of our children.

Talking Books

We implemented our project “Talking Books” in 2018 between April- June with the support of Tırtıl Kids stores with an aim to discover different worlds by reading books together with our children and strengthen their reading habits.

We implemented our project in Tırtıl Kids stores and in the stores of Tırtıl Kids’ business partners located in Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir on Sundays in 30-minute sessions. We are more than happy to reach 1.575 children between the ages of 4-8 and introduce them with various books.

Marvelous Math Exhibition and Mobile Truck

"By virtue of “Marvelous Math” Exhibition, we sought to help children discover the abstract aspect of math in concrete terms while telling them that math is everywhere in life and introducing them to its entertaining and creative characteristics.

The Workshop Area, where our children had an opportunity to apply what they learnt, to develop their knowledge and abilities and work in teams, was opened to visit from November 12, 2015, until April 30, 2017, in the Zone by QNB  hosting Auditorium which brings children together with the rich content of Da Vinci Learning channel and the first and only Trampoline Parque of Turkey.

Our exhibition hosted over 150,000 children in The ZONE by QNB which is an entertainment and culture center tailored for children.

On the other side, we reached the little ones living in Anatolia by means of our mobile math truck which visited 25 different points in Turkey. Our mobile truck introduced thousands of children in Istanbul, Izmir, Adana, Amasya, Antalya, Aydın, Bursa, Çankırı, Edirne, Erzurum, Eskişehir, Gaziantep, Kahramanmaraş, Kırşehir, Konya, Kütahya, Manisa, Muğla, Nevşehir, Safranbolu, Sivas, Soma, Tekirdağ, Tokat and Yalova with the entertaining world of math.

Madagascar Live

By inspiring from the characters and original screenplay of world-wide record-breaking Madagascar movie of Dreamworks, we introduced Madagascar Live to our children.

In the play adopted to the Madagascar Movie, the adventures of cute animals in the zoo were narrated in an entertaining manner. The performance composed of 25 characters in total take the audience to Madagascar beaches from the Central Park Zoo.

Our children’s play “Madagascar Live”, which we supported with great enthusiasm and was staged for the first time in Turkey, met with more than 65.000 children and their families between January-June 2015 in Ankara, Adana, Bursa, Istanbul and Izmir, and offered a kind of feast.

Stories of Sezuş: Efe and Bulut are against Osman Bey

In the musical, which was comprised of songs adapted from the compositions of Sezen Aksu, the friendship between Efe and the dog named Bulut was narrated. Our children musical “Stories of Sezuş: Efe and Bulut are against Osman Bey” written by Sezen Aksu which contains significant messages such as tolerance, respect, empathy, love for animals and loyalty opened curtains on October 24-25,2015, in Istanbul MOI, then travelled Adana, Ankara, Antalya, Bursa, Erzurum, Gaziantep, Istanbul, Izmir, Kayseri, Mersin, Rize and Trabzon provinces and met with over 35.000 children.

By the Power of Dreams

In the scope of our “By the Power of Dreams” project implemented in collaboration with the Community Volunteers Foundation, we aimed for improving the self-esteem of primary school students by means of storytelling method, fostering their communication skills and building self-expression ability and helping them discover their written expression, imagination, reading and creativity.

In the scope of project launched in March 2018, we reached 1500 children in Istanbul, Izmir, Van, Kocaeli, Samsun, Muğla, Diyarbakır, Balıkesir, Kırşehir and Mersin and provided a total of 18-hour storytelling training in six weeks together with Community Volunteer Youth who had received training from storyteller Nazlı Çevik Azazi.

We moved the Storytelling Program, which is an innovative education method, to online as from May 2020 and started to experience it in online classes with children between the ages of 8-12 across Turkey and completed the training with 500 children. Our trainings were conducted in online classes of 20 people. By applying the learning content composed of 4 workshops each of which lasted one and a half hour and involved tales, riddles, tongue twisters and interactive games, we enabled children to listen and analyze different tales in every session and to discover their creativity for the purpose of building them up to write their own stories.

Anatolia Orff Music Education

In the leadership of Güher and Süher Pekinel and in cooperation with Orff Music Centre, Turkey, we enabled children to feel the sense of rhythm arising from the combination of music, speaking and dance and to unleash the creative power inside them in the scope of “Anatolia Orff Music Education Project”.

Three young music teachers selected by Orff Centre, Turkey in 2016-2017 education term completed their education in Salzburg Mozarteum University Carl Orff Institute with the support of our bank. Our teachers, having received education for 9 months, conveyed Orff education to 180 music teachers in Adana, Balıkesir, Eskişehir, Konya, Trabzon, and Van during 2017-2018 education term. These training reached 60.000 children by medium of our teachers in 2019.

QNB Children Festival

We will make entertaining workshops with our children on QNB YouTube channel between 23-25 April. We ensure that our children have fun while learning through a number of qualified content.

We aim for creating both an instructive and entertaining program and enjoying the festival spirit by means of workshops tailored to improve the creativity of children and enhance their analytical thinking and visual intelligence.
