In cooperation with TEGV, we bolstered up our children to develop projects by explaining them the cause-and-effect relation of climate change.
Climate Protectors are Growing” themed project focuses on building awareness of children about notorious topics of our age, namely the climate crisis and sustainability, through a climate-oriented project based on training and sustainability for children between the ages of 6 to 14. The press launch of our project was done in 2022 in Mardin with the participation of our General-Directorate Mr. Ömür Tan and TEGV General Directorate Mr. Sait Tosyalı, trainers and children.
Firstly, the trainers of the program were designated, and trainer trainings were provided. Ten out of seventy volunteer trainers taking charge in the project were composed of our volunteer financiers. Later on, these trainers organized 12 training courses scheduled to be 2 hours per week.
The project aims at encouraging children to elaborate on climate issue while relating to their actual lives and gain information, and to develop project ideas and prototypes based on design thinking. It is expected that equipping children with troubleshooting skills vis-à-vis problems around by taking into account the regional differences and learning experience on the project cycle will boost permanent learning and positive behavior change.
Trainings on climate awareness and developing solution-oriented projects were given to more than 500 children in 13 provinces. Children learnt how to develop a project, to describe problems by promoting climate awareness, and to create solutions for these problems. We are working up to reach over 1100 children by broadening our scope of city in 2023.
